Faustuss Blog 3 (14/06/06)

Welcome to the third update on Faustuss' Amakula project. Things have been busy here for the last two weeks, despite a software-related hold up on the film editing front. We are gradually edging towards our fundraising target with the combined efforts of a number of friends. From carboot sales to displays and CD sales at local events we are getting there!

In the meantime we have been finalizing and producing cover artwork for our next CD release - a selection of poems by Kepha Jalango. Kepha is a thrusting new talent in free poetry and public speaking. Largely self educated, well read in Marx, angry but optimistic, cutting but approachable - Kepha should be acknowledged as a danger to all that is wrong with politics in East Africa. He is an active member of numerous pro-active groups in Kibera and is instigating an international network of forward thinking people from slums all over the world. We hope that the release of his CD will help raise awareness of the conditions that Kiberians face on a day-to-day basis.

When it is released, profits from the sale of the CD will go towards helping Kepha with his work in the slums, and assisting the KCYP (Kibera Community Youth Programme) with its various projects. For more information on KCYP please visit http://www.kcyp.kabissa.org/
